S. Todd Farris offers clients more than 30 years of experience in real estate, municipal law, and litigation using the approach which will best meet their goals.
“I understand the importance of providing good value to clients,” Todd said. “I really enjoy the process of deal-making. But there are times when litigation is a client’s best option, and I use my experience to put together a game plan to achieve the best possible cost-effective outcome.”
Todd is highly skilled and practiced in municipal law, including rezoning, special uses and liquor and other licensing. He also has an active real estate practice representing developers and owners of residential, commercial and office projects in acquisitions and sales, condominium formation, entity organization and structure, leasing, eminent domain issues and property tax disputes and litigation.
After graduating with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1984, Todd served as a clerk for the Presiding Judge Paul Gartzke of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, District IV in Madison. He joined FF&SJ in 1987 and is a shareholder.
“Our litigation skills are well-regarded in the legal community,” Todd said. “Our late founder, Bob Friebert, was the consummate litigator and all of us who worked with him benefitted from his skill and tenacity.” Farris continues the Firm’s litigation traditions and represents clients in both trials and appeals in state and federal courts.
Todd is a former board member of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity (2009-2013) and continues to serve as a member of the ReStore Committee providing advice on real estate issues. He also serves as pro bono counsel to Danceworks, Inc.
Todd is a Milwaukee Public Schools graduate (Riverside High School Class of 1973). He met his wife, Debbie, in high school but it took another 28 years to get her to marry him. Todd and his wife live on Milwaukee’s East Side with their dog and cat and enjoy all of the amenities and activities available in the City. Farris is an avid golfer, sports fan, and plays guitar.
